Happy traveling girlies, after my trip to Beaver Creek I have to do my travel guide blog post. This post is focused on the skiing/snowboarding resort as I went to Colorado this winter to ski. I will mention some other activities to do at Colorado in the winter even though I personally did not try them.
welcome to my ultimate Beaver Creek Colorado Travel Guide!
Where to Ski/Snowboard?
As usual, there is a village at the base of the mountain and the chair lifts that get you up half way and all the way up he mountain. For Winter 2023 only 80/180 trails were open but the trails had a great mix of greens, blues, and a few blacks. The kids zones were also a lot of fun to find and go through (Jack Rabbit Alley was my favorite). Lots and lots of moguls if you go near the New Year time. You can rent you ski gear at Christy's Sports which is in the village towards the drop off area. You can also go down the mountain towards Avon to rent ski/snowboarding gear as well (there's another Christy's down in Avon, you can rent skis and return them interchangeably between the mountain village and Avon). Huge tip: either get the shuttle or find someone to drop you off as parking is pretty much a nightmare. We got lucky and were able to find valet parking at Beaver Creek Resort for $60 plus tip but that was a last resort due to the steep price. The screenshot below is of the Beaver Creek Mountain trails!
You can also visit Vail, which is about 10-20 minutes away, for skiing and snowboarding. Vail is a larger ski resort than Beaver Creek but Beaver Creek is less crowded.
Where to Eat / Apres
Usually my family rents a winter cabin for all of us so we tend to buy groceries at the nearby Walmart for the time we are there. My diet consisted of snacks and hot chocolate while I was there. On the days I went skiing, we usually got a pick-me-up snack after at Powder 8 which is right at the base of the mountain (the building in front of the final ski down area). We also tried pizza at Blue Moose Pizza and some chocolate croissants at the cafe at the base of the mountain, both of which we good but a bit overpriced given that there are at the ski village. We wanted to eat at Hooked, which is a sushi restaurant, but it was fully booked with reservations and no walk-ins. If you want to try Hooked, make sure to make a reservation in advanced!
Restaurants at the Beaver Creek Mountain Village:
Hooked - sushi restaurant with happy hour, make sure to geta. reservation
Coyote Cafe - Mexican restaurant perfect for after-skiing and has apres skiing specials with no reservations
The Chop House - steak and seafood restaurant with drinks for the adults at a mid-to-expensive price point
Powder 8 - buffet style restaurant perfect for a quick snack and drink after hitting the slopes (take a pit stop and go back up)
Allie's Cabin - Italian restaurant that serves amazing cocktails and has a warmest fireplace (no reservations)
Blue Moon Pizza - mainly serves pizza and allows walk-ins
Things To Do
Besides the cozy winter activities of staying in your cabin/hotel, there are some fun things to do in the Beaver Creek area. One of which is of course playing in the snow; you can buy toboggans at the Walmart and have fun. There is also the Vilar Performing Arts Center, Vail Valley Escape Room, Ice Skating and shopping at the Beaver Creek Village, and restaurants and spas too.
How to Get to Beaver Creek
You can either fly to the Vail airport or the more affordable option, which is what my family did, is to fly to the Denver Airport. From there, you can rent a car and take the 2-3 hour car ride to Beaver Creek.
Where to Stay
My family, as I said before, gets a winter cabin through AirBnB as we all like to stay together. However, so options to stay in include:
Ritz-Carlton
Park Hyatt
Beaver Creek Resort
Vail Resorts
Hope you guys have enjoyed my ultimate Beaver Creek colorado travel guide. Have the best trip ever and comment below if you have been to Beaver Creek. What would be your recommendations.
Xoxo,
Lauren
